National Athletic Training Month

March is National Athletic Training Month: what are you doing to showcase our profession?

On March 16th, I will be attending a proclamation by the mayor of Pearland, where I live, at Dawson H.S., which was arranged by Chris Shaddock, the SWATA PR Chair--who, not coincidentally, is the Head Athletic Trainer for Dawson.

Please visit NATA.org for more information, a toolkit, sample media releases and proclamations, images (like the one to the left), and a lot of other stuff to help you celebrate and promote athletic training in your local community.
I'd love to hear about activities in Texas and Arkansas, so feel free to "comment" on this post (hit that comments link next to my name below) and share your experiences with your fellow SWATA Members.

Have a great and safe National Athletic Training Month!

One of the ways the Killeen ISD athletic trainers is promoting athletic training during NATM is by being interviewed by the local paper. Many know us and what we do, but there are those out there that are still unsure. The Killeen School Board is also going to recognize the 8 athletic trainers on staff and students during a special recognition ceremony. My students are celebrating by creating posters to put in the halls of the school that tell about athletic training. I think this is very informational to the entire school community. There is also an announcmenment everyday during March about NATM and who the staff and students athletic trainers are at Ellison. These are just a few things that will help people learn about athletic training and understand what our role is.
