Competency Workshop sponsored by SWATA

Your professional organization believes in the future of athletic training and also this association. Because of that we have once again sponsored a competency workshop for student members. If you work with any collegiate athletic training students please encourage them to attend this workshop. It will be held January 29 - 30, 2010 at the DFW Wyndham.

Dr. Gretchen Oliver of the University of Arkansas is the Workshop chair and has put together a great program that is designed to aide the individuals as they prep for their professional tests.

Dates: January 29-30, 2010

Location: Wyndham DFW North Hotel (use code #380271) in Irving, Texas (up to 4 people per room)

Bring your laptop with wireless internet access (if applicable): The examinations will be offered in scantron format again. Or students can also take these exams in an online format similar to the new BOC exam.

This Competency Workshop is a complement to your CAATE athletic training program. It is a two-day workshop to prepare you for professional credential examinations in athletic training (both state and national exam formats). The twelve different multiple choice examinations covering the six domains will be scored to provide you a baseline of your cognitive knowledge. Our other highlighted features are:
1. NATA President Marje Albohm
2. Dr. William Prentice, author of multiple athletic training content textbooks (i.e, Principles of Athletic Training, Therapeutic Modalities, Rehabilitation Techniques, and others)
3. Orthopedic surgeon led pro-section cadavers of the knee
4. Clinical decision making scenario sessions
5. Evening hands-on sessions of joint mobilization and manual muscle testing. Early Registration is open until December 30, 2009. Please register early to guarantee your place! Looking forward to seeing you there.
